My career has been rich and varied, starting as a graduate trainee with Unilever, and progressing to senior management positions before establishing successful businesses in publishing and advertising. In 1999 I returned to the UK and purchased a yacht brokerage business in Cornwall. In 2001 I expanded the business to Mallorca where I spent seven years before spending a further ten years in London before identifying Andorra as the best hub for the future of Abery Yachts.
I have been directly responsible for the sale and purchase of some 750 yachts ranging from family cruisers to superyachts, transactions which have involved more than twenty nationalities of buyers and sellers as well as a massive range of locations and circumstances. This huge depth of transactional experience often makes the difference between a sale completing or not.
For the last forty years, I have owned my own yachts giving me insight into the joys and pains of ownership! Yacht brokerage, like yacht ownership, requires some sense of humour but above all great results are delivered by hard work, in-depth knowledge, attention to detail, discretion and a professional approach.
I grew up sailing in Cornwall and the Mediterranean, especially the Balearics. Following an Economics degree in Bristol, I established a yacht brokerage franchise in Barcelona. After four years of continual growth in the business, I elected to take a post-graduate course in Marine Surveying to consolidate my understanding of yachts.
Having lived in the UK, Balearics, mainland Spain and now Andorra, I possess a deep understanding of diverse cultures and international markets. Fluent in English, Spanish and Russian, I can connect with clients from around the world, ensuring effective communication and a highly personalised service.
With considerable transactional experience and extensive sailing experience in the Mediterranean, I am well-versed in the nuances of the region and can expertly guide clients on their yachting journey.
